Perfect Heart Healthy Yogurt

This is yogurt parfait. Adding grains and fruits to yogurt, makes it โ€œParfaitโ€, witch is a French word for โ€œPerfectโ€, then this is a perfect heart healthy yogurt. With very few ingredients, you will have a great breakfast, snack or even dessert!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
  • ยผ cup granola(I used Granola protein Oats' N Honey)
  • ยผ cup fresh strawberries, cut small
  • ยผ cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1.  In a small bowl, mix well yogurt and maple syrup if you like (optional).
  2.  Layer some of the yogurt into the bottom of a glass.
  3. Top with fruits then granola. Repeat layering until the glass is full.
  4. 4- Serve yogurt immediately to keep granola crunchy. If you prepare yogurt parfait to be served later, you don't have to layer granola with yogurt and fruits in the glass, just add it on top of the yogurt and fruits layers before serving.

There is no need to wait ย for Fairs or Carnivals to enjoy Funnel cakes. This is a very easy recipe.

Onces you mix the batter ingredients, you should obtain a smooth texture that can easily stream from a funnel or a squeeze bottle.

The ย batter is commonly poured through a funnel and thatย is why the cakes are calledย ” Funnel Cakes”.

Deep fry the batter by squeezing it into a hot oil . Squeeze and make spirals like shapes.

Use tongs to return the cakes and fry the other side.

Once the cakes are golden brown, drain on paper towel, then dust with powdered sugar and Voila!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tsp granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • ยฝ tsp vanilla extract
  • ยฝ tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp canola or vegetable oil
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg, salt, sugar, vanilla extract and milk.
  2. Sift in the flour and baking powder. Then mix until no lumps remain.
  3. Add the 2 tablespoons of oil and fold it in. You should obtain a smooth thick batter.
  4.  Pour the batter in a squeeze bottle, using a liquid measuring cup. Usually we use a funnel to make this cake, but I find it easier and cleaner to use a squeeze bottle.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

  6. ย Once the oil is hot (375 ยฐF), squeeze the batter into the hot oil and move your hand inย circular motions.

  7.  Use tongs to turn the cake and fry the other side.
  8. Once the cake is golden brown, drain it on paper towel.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar.

  10. Enjoy.
