Almond Zebra Cake

This cake with zebra stripes is moist, delicious and easy to make.
Once you prepare the batter, you will divide it in half and add melted chocolate to the other half.
Mix the melted chocolate to half the batter until smooth.
Pour about a ladle of the white batter in the center of the pan.
Pour about à ladle of the chocolate batter on top of the white batter( just in the center).
Pour a ladle of the white batter on top of the chocolate batter( in the center only).
Alternate pouring the white and chocolate batter until you deplete all the batters. The cake batter will spread to the edge of the pan during the alternating process.
Bake in a 350 °F preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 cup milk (any type)
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tbsp Fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder

Instructions

  1. Mix the eggs and the pinch of salt in a large bowl, using a wooden spoon( you can use a stand mixer).

  2. Add sugar, oil, milk and lemon juice then mix all the ingredients until smooth.

  3. Add the almond flour and mix well.

  4. Add all purpose flour and baking powder, then mix everything well.

  5. Pour half the batter in another bowl. Set aside.

  6. Place the semi sweet chocolate chips in a small bowl with 1 tablespoon water and microwave for 30 seconds until melted.

  7. Mix the chocolate until smooth and let cool a little bit, then mix it to the batter ( in one of the bowls).

  8. Butter a 9 inch round pan ( or line the pan with parchment paper) and pour the batter by alternating between the white batter and the chocolate batter. Pour about à ladle of white batter in the center of the pan, then pour a laddle of the chocolate batter on top in the middle. Repeat the operation until depleting all the batters.

  9. Bake in a 350 °F preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.

Recipe Notes

  • You can use cocoa powder instead of chocolate chips( about 3 tablespoons or more).
