Chocolate Peanut butter Cake Pops

These cake pops are easy to make, especially if you prepare the cake ahead of time.

These cake pops are not just pleasant to the eyes but soft and delicious!

Ingredients

  • Chocolate velvet cake(please check recipe link above)
  • Peanut butter

Coating

  • Candy melt, or chocolate or almond bark (melted)
  • Food coloring if needed
  • Sprinkles of your choice

Equipment

  • Cake pop sticks

Instructions

  1. First, crumble the chocolate velvet cake until you get fine crumbs.

  2. Add peanut butter to the cake crumbs, one tablespoon at the time. Make sure to mix with hands.

  3. Once the mixture gets together, form small balls by hands or use an ice cream scoop.

  4. Dip the end of a cake pop stick in melted almond bark (or candy melt or chocolate), then push the stick into the cake ball, halfway through.

  5. Clean the excess almond bark with your finger.

  6. Let chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

  7. Dip the cake balls in melted almond bark(or melted chocolate or candy melt). Make sure to let the excess drip off.

  8. Add the sprinkles of your choice.

  9. Place the cake pops on a ย styrofoam block or pops decorating stand.

  10. Let set.

  11. Dust the cake pops with edible luster dust to give them a little sparkle (if you like).

  12. Enjoy.

Recipe Notes

  • You donโ€™t have to crumble all the chocolate cake to make cake pops, you can use half of itย or less if you want to make less cake pops.
  • You can place each cake pop in a treat bag and attach the bag with ribbon. That would make a great gift.
  • I have used a 9 inch chocolate velvet cake in this recipe( the same amount of ingredients in the chocolate velvet cake recipe link above).

Chocolate Velvet Cake

Chocolate velvet cake is light and easy to make.
You can use any type of frosting for this cake. You can split the cake in half and spread the frosting in one half then top with the other half.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp melted chocolate
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
  • 1/2 cup buttermilkย 
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (1/2 stick), softened at room temperatureย 
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Garnish

  • About 1 cup melted chocolate
  • Chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, sift the flour, salt , cocoa powder and baking soda, then mix them well with a spoon. Set aside.

  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk the butter, oil, melted chocolate and sugar until creamy.

  3. Add the egg and vanilla and whisk more.

  4. In a big cup, mix the buttermilk and vinegar with a spoon.

  5. Pour both flour and buttermilk mixture into the bowl. Mix well until smooth (donโ€™t over mix it).

  6. Pour the batter in a greased 7 inch springform baking pan.ย 

  7. Bake in a 350 ยฐF preheated oven for about 25 to 30 minutes.

  8. Let cool completely.ย 

  9. Run a knife around the edges to loosen the cake from the ring of the springform pan.

  10. Open the springform pan and remove the ring.

  11. Place the cake on a cooling rack.

  12. Put the cake upside down.

  13. Pour melted chocolate on top and spread it around the edges.

  14. Garnish with chocolate sprinkles.

  15. Let the chocolate set.

  16. Enjoy.

Recipe Notes

  • You can cut the cake in half ( to have 2 discs) and spread melted chocolate in one half then cover with the other half. Spread chocolate on top.
  • You can replace the melted chocolate with cream cheese frosting or any other type of frosting.
  • I use US cups ย in my recipes.
